Sony has officially announced that Ghost of Yōtei, the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, this action-adventure title introduces players to a new protagonist, Atsu, in a fresh narrative set in feudal Japan.
A New Chapter in the Ghost Series
Set in 1603, over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei follows Atsu, a female warrior seeking vengeance against the Yōtei Six, a group responsible for her family’s demise. The game promises a rich, open-world experience, allowing players to choose the order in which they confront each member of the Yōtei Six.
Ghost of Yōtei Enhanced Gameplay and Features
The newly released trailer showcases intense combat sequences, stealth mechanics, and scenic exploration around Mount Yōtei. A notable addition is a gameplay mechanic that lets players “glimpse Atsu’s past and understand everything that was taken from her,” adding depth to the storytelling.
Players can expect a more vertical and dynamic open world, with the ability to build camps and develop Atsu’s skills. The game also introduces new weapon types, such as the ōdachi and kusarigama, enhancing combat variety.
